Twelve bunks on the Greenstone River, a short walk from the road end. Wood burner, gas hob, long-drop. The branch's busiest hut from November through April.

Built circa 1980 (double-glazed October 2023), the Mid Greenstone hut sleeps 12 people in 2 separate rooms with bunk beds and is around a 4–5 hour walk from the car park at the Glenorchy end. The branch maintains a stoat trap line from the hut up to Steele Creek.

Branch members stay free. We hold a $50 key deposit on your card and release it within three working days of return.

Getting there

From the Glenorchy end: ~4-5h walk via the Greenstone Track. Turn off ~1h past DOC Greenstone Hut at an orange marker with electrical tape, head up the gully to the right, then up the bushline to the hut. No signposts.
